Hello,
There is a new scanner in the reference room by the color printer. So feel free to have patrons use that scanner too.
Thanks!

Follow-Me Printing
Follow-Me Printing is the new print management system on campus. The link to the ITS webpage with instructions and information about the new print management system is linked on the ISD website. Please refer to the ITS page for instructions on how to use the Follow-Me print stations. They will be updating those pages as changes are made to the print system or as they learn from student use. Below are some quick tips and tricks that Dave shared with us that may help you answer some student questions not addressed on the ITS website and troubleshoot:
- Once a student has finished printing they should swipe their ID again or tap logout on the screen. If they do not log out after printing they will be automatically logged out after 3 minutes or when someone else logs in or swipes.
- Printing in black and white costs $.05 and color costs $.10 per page. Each student is given $18.75 in print credits at the beginning of each term (these do not roll over across terms). This amount was calculated by multiplying 375 (the number of credits allotted on the old system) by $.05, so students are receiving the same number of credits they had on the old system.
- If a student runs out of print credit dollars it will begin pulling money from their flex dollars. If they run out of flex dollars they can replenish through Manage My ID on CardinalNet. This is a change from the old system where they used to replenish print credits in Merlin.
- All print jobs will sit in the print queue for 4 hours. After 4 hours the print jobs will disappear from a student's queue and they will need to resend the print job to the queue in order to print it.
- The print queue deletes all duplicate jobs that are sent within 2 minutes, so if a student needs to print more than one copy of a print job they need to change the number of copies in the print menu on the computer or wait two minutes to send a second print job to the queue.
- There are two types of release stations: a fast release station and a touch screen (referred to on the ITS website as a cPad). Fast release stations print all jobs in a students' queue. cPads allow students to choose individual print jobs from the queue. In general cPads are located in public labs and fast release stations are located in dorms and labs that require ID access (see a full list here).
- Faculty and staff do not have print credits, therefore they may see a negative number when printing to print stations.
- Local printers are not affected by the new print management system, so library staff printers and receipt printers will function as normal.
- If the pad should get unplugged or the power go out, ITS may need to restart the cPads with an administrator login. (This has not been verified. It may just start back up normally.)
